Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The egg chair was originally conceived by Arne Jacobsen. Fritz Hansen has been manufacturing Jacobsens Egg chair since they were first released in the 1950s right up to this day.
Arne was an architect and designer that was known for his unique chair designs. Sixty years after its creation Arne Jacobsens cocoon-like swivel chair remains an icon of Scandinavian design. It was in sculptural contrast to the rest of the buildings vertical and horizontal surfaces.
